Czech poet Václav Ren 's interpretation in verse of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale "Hansel and Gretel," lavishly illustrated by a young(ish) Jiri Trnka (1912-1969). Following the end of World War II, Trnka turned his hand to puppeteering and animation and has been dubbed today as "the Walt Disney of Eastern Europe" (Dominik Jun, "Jirí Trnka: 100th Anniversary of the Birth of a Great Czech Animator" (2012)). This work exceedingly scarce, with none in the trade and just two in OCLC as of September, 2020, both in Germany; COPAC adds a copy in the British Library.
